Painting a Family Memory

A few years ago, before Corona, the whole family went on vacation together. We realized that it may be the last time that we could do something like this. My eldest was finishing university. My middle child just was released from military duty and my youngest managed to get a week leave from the military to go on vacation with us. We found a lovely hotel near the beach and spent a wonderful time eating, swimming, touring and eating again. At first, it was a bit awkward, but as the days went by, we fell into a wonderful mood of laughing, living and loving. The climax was an evening at a restaurant (by the name “Acrogali”) that looked like a shack on the water’s edge (during my morning run I noticed it and dismissed it as a lifeguard’s shack), the reflection of the moon light on the sea, the cats sitting under the wharf waiting for food to drop, the excellent seafood and beer made for a memorial evening.

Nothing like perspective of time, wishing to go back to those care-free happy days to make a short series of water colors based on those memories. Digital, Remember? Last weeks blog? I proceeded to upload the watercolor series and continue evolving them digitally. This is one of the Digital “Acrogali” illustrations from that series.
