Opening Night!

The Installation as the Center-Piece

Tonight, IS OPENING NIGHT! Opening night is an OCCASION. The excitement prior, wondering if the works will be liked. There are so many details related, from preparing the invitation list, how to send the invites, setting and hanging the works, who gets to talk on opening night, what to say… the list just goes on. So, as you can see, I AM VERY EXCITED!

As I have previously mentioned, this exhibit is a joint collaboration between me and another artist, Linda Neusen. We are not just sharing gallery space, but having an actual dialogue. Some of the pieces are a reaction/ interpretation of each other’s work. Other pieces are our individual interpretations to a subject. Then, the centerpiece is a total joint force between us.

“From the Mountain to the Sea and Sky” – Base of Installation, MDF, Bamboo, Plexiglass, LED Lighting, set up in studio (PoC)

. The name of the installation is "From the Mountain to the Sea and Sky". The base is made from circular MDF boards. The top part is printed plexiglass. There will be soft led light to illuminate the painting. Facing down from top board will be blue light, from the bottom board an inner circular light blue light, the illumination of both lights will give the effect of sea. The poles will be cut to give a line of a spiral hill. Strengthening that line will be running up 4 of the poles twine. On some of the poles will be a few shadow images of animals/birds of the area. Continuing the twine lines will be hand printed prayer flags of similar images. The twine will be tied to 4 rocks situated diagonally to the 4 poles. 4 symbolizes the 4corners of the earth. Giving homage to mother earth. I love nature. I love the sea, the mountains, the animals that wander around here. The entire exhibition is a collaboration dialogue with a wonderful textile artist, Linda Neusen (http://www.antidotalart.com) as neighbors (we live across the street from each other) as artists, as nature lovers. The installation is the center-piece of the entire exhibit. A climax in our dialogue, a total joint effort.

Stay tuned, as I will continue to display works from the exhibit. If you are in the “neighborhood” anywhere from the 8th of October till the end of December, contact me. Id love to show you the exhibit personally. If you see something you like, TELL ME! Maybe we can make it yours.
