Sincerity

Integrity, Honesty and Being True to Oneself

Sincerity and honesty are often confused with one another. Great mistake. One can be totally honest without being sincere as one can be sincere without being totally honest. I am no liar, but to be truthful, honesty often is over rated and can caused damage when not used with empathy and integrity and can be manipulated with bad intent.

“One’s mouth and heart must be equal”.

The equation for “Sincerity”: sincerity = inegrity2 + 3/4honesty+ 2x empathy + intent

The lack honesty does not mean lack of truth. It means the significance and meaning one gives to the truth. Honesty is subjective. Sincerity is objective.

Honesty and intent come from the mind, from logic. Empathy and integrity come from the heart. To be sincere, we must have more of the heart and less of the mind/logic. Art is all about free association. Free association can happen when there is fluidity between mind and heart.

In art, sincerity is all the difference between a decoration on the wall to a meaningful piece of art work. “Fake” is just not copying another artist artwork. Fake is also art that is not sincere. The intent, feelings and thoughts that artists put into their work is comprehended and felt by the spectator. When looking to purchase a work of art with specific, personal meaning, one must be true to oneself and one’s desires just like the artists that make the artwork.
